Unrequited Love

Sometimes we forget God is passionately pursuing our hearts. Day after day He’s pouring out love. Here’s a poem written from the vantage point of the One who is love.

Unrequited Love
By Erin Lamb

Waiting,
waiting for you to respond to the pursuit of My heart for all of you.
I do not seek partial love
or part time affection.
I desire the fullness of your heart and your pure undivided devotion.
I sacrificed all that I am to save you.
The nails in My hands,
the thorns on My head,
the lashes that tore My flesh,
the pain that seared through My chest,
it paid for your freedom.
I died and rose again so you could live.
My love was poured out as a painful offering of love.
You are the object of My affection and for love I suffered loss and scorn.
Every moment of every day My heart is eager,
longing to be with you.
Day after day,
I patiently wait.
Standing in the present with passion bursting forth from My chest.
You are the one I love,
and the one I adore.
No one can or ever will love you more.
My heart aches.
My heart anticipates.
My voice cries out, “I chose you. Won’t you choose Me? I am the only one who can meet your deepest needs.”
I watch as you choose other loves that will only wound your fragile heart.
They promise you the world,
but leave you emptier than the start.
I watch you chase dreams, ambitions, and set your own life course.
I stand with abundant life for you,
having done all that was needed so you would not be lost.
If only you knew you were forfeiting paradise.
What I have for you far exceeds what you could imagine in your wildest dreams.
You trade a palace for cabin.
Trade beauty for what will be consumed or turned into ashes.
You take counterfeit love instead of everlasting love.
My heart aches
for I know what I created you for.
You were created by Me and for Me.
Without Me,
you will not know who you are or all that you could be.
You were created to find fulfillment in Me.
No matter how many times you walk away or even refuse My love,
I will still be love.
My love for you is here to stay.
When and if you turn to Me,
I will come running with delay!
I can live without you,
but I’d rather have you here with Me.
I created you to love you!
In the center of your life and heart is where I want to be.

We can say we love God and still have other loves, something or someone who takes higher priority than Him in our lives. Truth is He belongs in first place. May we receive His great love and pour it back on Him first, then others. There’s no greater love than God’s love. Blessings friends, you are deeply loved.

God is so good. Thank you for stopping by and I pray God blesses you richly and abundantly, above all you could ask or imagine.
